FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is ShellScholars?
ShellScholars is a portfolio builder that replaces a static resume or a LinkedIn profile with one link, called a shell, built from drag-and-drop blocks such as banners, project cards, timelines, and metrics. You control exactly what is public, private, or hidden on a block-by-block basis.
Is ShellScholars free?
Yes. ShellScholars is free forever for a single shell with core blocks. A Pro plan starting at $1/month unlocks additional shells and advanced features. No credit card is required to start.
Do I need a password to sign in?
No. ShellScholars uses passwordless sign-in: continue with Google in one click, or enter your email and open the magic verification link that arrives in your inbox.
How do I control who sees my private work?
Every block on your shell has a visibility setting of Public, Private, or Hidden. Private blocks are only visible to approved connections you have tagged into a group, such as Recruiters. Hidden blocks are visible only to you in the editor and never appear on your public page.
Can I run more than one portfolio?
Yes. Go to My Shells to create additional shells, each with its own public URL and blocks. Your connections and tags are shared across every shell you own, but block content is separate per shell.
How do visitors request access to my private blocks?
When a visitor reaches a private block they cannot see, they get a locked placeholder with a Request to connect button. Approving the request from your Connections tab assigns them to a tag that determines which private blocks they can view.
Can I edit my shell from my phone?
Yes. The editor is fully usable on mobile and tablet, with the top navigation collapsing into a hamburger menu. Drag-to-reorder and resizing on the canvas are desktop-only, but you can still reorder blocks on mobile from the Profile blocks roster.
